The businessman’s prestigious track record and humanitarian outlook continue to elevate his undertakings at the AMAK Group.

A Force Of Transformation

At first glance, Dr M athur’s time at the AMAK Group can be recounted through the spate of successful moves that thrust the Group into the echelons of success that it occupies today.

The Director’s singular insight and actions have helped the Group grow by a w hopping 1,700 per cent over the past 32 years, a growth only matched by the change he accomplished by increasing the ratio of exports up to 85 per cent in an environment in a country repositioning itself as a burgeoning technical hub for the region.

Dr Mathur was entrusted with leading A M AK Group’s certification for quality control in 1996 alongside Managing Director, Mohammed Al Khaja, and piloted the change, making AMAK Group the first contracting company in Bahrain to be ISO-certified.

He created a management system that i s responsive to the strict requirements of the certification process, while also incorporating world-class health and safety measures that drastically reduce accidents.

Coming A Long Way

While Dr Mathur enjoys an extraordinary measure of success in the cosmopolitan environment in Bahrain, he was not always the sophisticated city dweller he is today. “I am a small-town person but it did not stop me from dreaming big,” he explains.

He set off to Jodhpur to acquire his Mechanical Engineering degree, after which he arrived in Bahrain and joined the AMAK Group in 1990.

He augmented his skills through an MBA and went one step further and added a doctorate study in management and business administration from the USA to his roster by 1993.

Now a happy resident of the Kingdom of Bahrain, he is an admirer of its rulers and their reforms. He believes that “The Kingdom of Bahrain is very welcoming of new ideas and we all know that a successful business thrives on diversity”.

The Power Of Compassion

He views his workforce as the company’s primary stakeholder. “I learnt very early on that quality control is not just about the right tools and technology but also about people management,” he explains.

His focus on uncompromising product and service quality coupled with his shrewd instincts has shaped the direction of new business ventures in the Group to include decorative wrought iron, industrial car park shades, and marble contracting.

Further, his canny choices have transformed AMAC Group into the firm of choice not only for the goliaths of industry such as Bahrain International Airport, Bahrain Petroleum Co. (Bapco), Aluminium Bahrain (ALBA), and Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (GPIC), but also for VVIP clients that cater to palaces and private resorts.
